Established in Brisbane in 1981, Portofino has been in the fashion business for over 40 years. Although initially starting out with retail stores, the Portofino shopping experience has evolved to now bringing the store to you. Travelling to areas in the south-east corner of Qld and into Northern NSW, Portofino has taken the worry out of going to shopping centres to get a fashion fix by presenting fashion parades & pop-up shops at venues ranging from Lifestyle Villages/Resorts to View Clubs, Quota Clubs & other charitable organisations as well as Bowling Clubs etc. Roz Fridenberg is the Director of Portofino & hosting these events is most definitely her passion.
FASHION: Portofino specialises in creating a unique shopping experience by presenting a fabulous fashion parade, displaying a full range of affordable garments, most of which are made in Brisbane. They also stock an extensive range of accessories, such as jewellery, scarves and handbags. (a choice far exceeding most boutiques). Clothing and accessories can be purchased on the day of the parade. Sizing is not an issue as a large range of sizes is stocked & any not available can be ordered and posted to the customer free of charge.
FUNDRAISING: Many of the parades are fundraising events & Portofino is called upon to be the entertainment (the drawcard to get people involved). Portofino offers a $50 voucher as a lucky door prize as well as a generous donation (usually a percentage of the day’s takings) to the event’s organising body. The volunteer models also receive a 10% discount on any clothing purchased by them.
FUN: Portofino does all the work with the fashion parade. We arrive at the venue approx. 2 hours prior to the starting time to allow us to set up. We ask the models (5-6 ladies of various sizes) who will be volunteers from the organisation to present themselves 1 hour prior to starting time, to have their garments chosen by the Portofino Team. The fashion parade will usually run for 1 hour with full professional commentary from Roz highlighting pricing, sizing & fabric details. The ladies at the event will have time both before & after the parade to shop. An enjoyable day for everyone involved.
